Community events

We host various social events with the aim of providing a sense of community and dignity often missing in traditional service settings.

With a team of individuals who  understand the challenges of Skid Row firsthand, BHSS has built a sanctuary where participants feel seen and valued, and these layers of trust allow for true relaxation, jubilation and camaraderie.

The “Birthday Bash”

On the second Saturday of every month, we host a bbq party celebrating all of the birthdays in the community. Participants can receive plates of barbecue chicken, hamburgers and hot dogs along with sides and drinks, enjoy music, seasonal bonfires and Dominoes tournaments with a cash prize. The festivities begin at 6 p.m.

Thursday “Coffee and Cuts”

Each Thursday, we host gatherings with hot drinks, pastries, and haircuts or braiding services, from 9 a.m. to noon.
