Community saves lives.

And every life matters.

Blue Hollywood Street Sanctuary is a Black-led, lived-experience powered non-profit organization focusing on removing barriers to resources and community for the most marginalized in Skid Row, Los Angeles.

In a community with various providers, we on the front lines of care, often the first touch point for traumatized individuals who hesitate to engage with traditional providers.

When other spaces close, we’re still open: our 24-hour, wall-less hub is a judgement-free space where unhoused and preciously housed community members can access safety, a social network, and the tools they need to survive.

The Sanctuary

Our outdoor, street-based community center and refuge is open 24 hours a day, providing basic resources, harm-reduction supplies and direct services as well as a place to rest, socialize, celebrate and receive on-demand non-coercive spiritual counseling.

Harm reduction

We are a syringe services program and distribute safer-injecting kits, safer smoking kits, condoms and life-saving naloxone as well as bottled water, daily multi-vitamins, wound care and hygiene supplies and more through our community center and weekly outreach. Our harm reduction efforts have led to the reversal of more than 100 overdoses in the last year.

Community events

Blue Hollywood Street Sanctuary hosts weekly and monthly social events with the aim of providing a sense of community and dignity that are often missing in traditional service settings.

Through ongoing and long-term relationship building, we work to build a safe and joyful space where participants feel seen and valued, allowing for true relaxation, jubilation and camaraderie.

“To truly make impact, you have to meet people right where they are.”

— Pastor Blue, Blue Hollywood Street Sanctuary founder and executive director
